We know that every addiction is different, because every person is an individual and the reasons why they are suffering from their addiction varies so greatly. Our addiction treatment centre in Spain, has been created to treat everyone in a unique way, respecting our clients’ differences and factoring them into the care and treatment we provide. We keep group sizes small in order to allow us to do that, and also offer 1-2-1 addiction treatment, for those clients who want to receive their treatment with total privacy guaranteed.
We’re passionate about this individualised care. At the heart of all our programmes is the belief in treating clients with dignity and respect and seeing them as so much more than their addiction. That’s because there is life before and after addiction, and one of our jobs is to enable our clients to rediscover their strength, resilience and pride and get back to their true selves, leaving behind the substances which are holding them back.
Why Every Addiction is Different
Those who have been through rehab before, may have felt like a number, or a category of addiction, rather than the complex individual that they are. That’s not the case at The Bridge!
Although addictions do of course have treatment plans and options which are effective for many types of addictions, if you don’t understand the reason for the addiction developing, you can’t get to the root cause. If we treat the symptoms, but not the cause, the risk of relapse is significantly higher.
At the start of any addiction treatment plan, we get to know our clients and find out their family history, their story and any mental or physical health issues which they had before the addiction took hold, as well as those that have developed due to the addiction.
Genetics, trauma, mental health, neglect and violence are all factors which commonly lead to addiction. However, we need to understand what your experiences have been and which factors, or combination of factors have led you to where you are today.
No two individuals have the same triggers or recovery paths and so we work closely with the client and their families to fully understand their story in order to plan their journey to recovery.
How We Personalise Our Treatments
Once we’ve assessed our clients thoroughly, we create a bespoke addiction treatment plan. At the core of all programmes is the highly effective 12 step programme, as the tried and tested formula and the availability to continue treatment outside rehab offers clients the very best chance of a lasting recovery. However, we find that the 12 steps alone are rarely enough.
Depending on the length of time that clients have been struggling with substance abuse, and other co-occurring disorders or triggers, we will complement the 12 steps with additional therapy types.
These include, one-to-one therapy, group therapy sessions, or CBT, which has proved highly effective for changing mindset and beliefs and incorporating coping strategies into daily life to prevent relapse. We’re also passionate about family involvement, as addiction truly is a family disease and our families can be our best allies, but also a trigger for many. By involving the families in the treatment, offering them support to overcome their trauma and helping them to rebuild bridges, we are able to help everyone and create a support structure to give the best chance for a lasting recovery.
The Importance of a 360-Degree Treatment Approach
Above and beyond addiction treatment, we look at the whole person and how we can help them to build strength, resilience and health. Many clients come to us with their mental and physical health in dire need of improvement and with years of damaging habits and behaviours which need to be undone. Addressing physical, emotional, and social aspects of addiction leads to sustainable recovery.
As part of our holistic approach to recovery, we use complementary therapies like yoga, mindfulness, and nutrition to teach clients to become the best possible version of themselves, care for themselves and treat their bodies and minds with respect. Integrating positive habits around exercise, nutrition and stress management improves mental and physical health and helps with stress management without turning to drugs and alcohol, so the time spent on these complimentary therapies is so important, alongside more traditional addiction treatment.
How We Have Evolved
The Bridge Marbella opened its doors in 2019, building on our Founders’ 20+ years of experience with addiction treatment, to create a unique addiction treatment centre. We started with a focus on alcohol, drug and gambling addictions and offering a bespoke service and taking a holistic approach to our programmes. Since we opened, we’ve constantly been evolving in response to our clients’ needs and enriching our programmes with new therapies, treatments and approaches.
Two major innovations have happened in the last five years – the launch of our eating disorder treatment service and the introduction of The Residence.
In 2023, we brought together a highly experienced team of eating disorder specialists, nutritionists, dieticians, counsellors and nurses, to offer a service that we felt was needed but very hard to find. Our eating disorder treatment programme has been highly successful in supporting our clients to overcome their eating disorders and we’re very proud of the results. Our clients leave us stronger and with a healthy relationship with food, an improved body image and a positivity for the future, which makes all the hard work so worthwhile.
Since The Bridge’s launch in 2019, we’ve attracted a successful, high achieving clientele, many of whom have high-powered jobs. The importance for privacy and discretion during their addiction treatment, as well as an ability to maintain work and family commitments led us to launch The Residence in 2024. This is a 100% one-to-one addiction recovery treatment, in a beautiful private villa, where luxury, comfort and the very best addiction care go hand in hand. It has been very well received among people who knew they needed help with addictions, but were concerned that seeking help would damage their reputation and that the facilities would not meet their very high-standards. We look forward to welcoming more discerning clients to The Residence in 2025 and beyond.
The Bridge will keep evolving, as we respond to our clients’ demands and ensure that we are up to date with all the clinical developments and advancements in addiction treatment protocols. We look forward to many more years supporting clients with addiction and eating disorders to get the help they so need, and start their new lives free from these destructive diseases.
